Micaul Solar Skirting Heating

ThermaSkirt® is a hi-tech aluminium alloy extrusion, with two watertight channels ‘moulded’

into the back. Patented connectors and covers allow it to be installed all around the room

in a matter of minutes, and it connects straight onto a conventional plumbed system – just

like a steel radiator.

Oh, and because its beautifully made and finished, you’ll be delighted at how it looks as a

skirting. Because ThermaSkirt® is made from an alloy that is 5 times more effective at passing

heat than steel, the warm water from your condensing or combi boiler (gas or electric) soon

raises the temperature of the ThermaSkirt® and the room. Because it's all around your

room, within minutes you have a lovely warm environment. Because it’s such a clever idea you

save heating costs, wall space and warm-up times.

 

Why is ThermaSkirt® better than a radiator?

 

Because ThermaSkirt® heats the room from all directions

at low level, you don’t get drafts or hot spots such as on

the ceiling – radiators heat by convection (air movement)

more than by radiation.

 

 

No more bleeding radiators! ThermaSkirt® acts like a pipe

and so will never need bleeding once installed correctly.

 

 

With radiators, the heat goes straight up, then along the

ceiling and then falls. Great if you’re 10 foot tall, but not

much use to your average home owner.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Thermaskirt® and Renewable Energy Systems

 

Renewable energy sources such as GSHP and Solar require compatible heating systems to maximise

efficiency and to warm quickly. ThermaSkirt® is manufactured from an aluminium alloy that is 5 times

more effective at radiating heat than traditional steel radiators. The greater surface area of the Regency

OG profile makes it suitable for such applications, as well as being appropriately designed for more

traditional homes and extensions. The smaller Urban LT may be used in upstairs applications such as

bedrooms and lofts, as it can often provide adequate heating for suitably insulated properties, even at

40°C flow temperature.

 

In highly demanding situations such as all-glass conservatories, loft conversions or poorly insulated

properties, the Regency OG can deliver over 700btu (210 W) per metre length to heat virtually any

space.

How we became a Thermaskirt® distributor and installer

 

We first came across Thermaskirt® when we were asked to install an air source heat pump into a

refurbished home in Capel Bangor, Aberystwyth. The customer was keen to fit Thermaskirt®

throughout the whole property but we were very sceptical about both whether it would be able to

dissipate the heat being generated by the heat pump or whether it compliment the heat pump in

providing the correct and controllable level of heating and comfort required.

 

Following some discussions with Discrete Heat and our own design calculations it was clear that

our concerns were unjustified. The heat pump and Thermaskirt® system was installed and worked

so well with our core business of supplying and installing renewable energy systems, we decided

that we would become a distributor and installer ourselves.
